HostMyCode Rolls Out L3/L4 DDoS Protection Across All India Infrastructure

Every server HostMyCode runs in India now sits behind enterprise-grade L3/L4 DDoS protection, switched on automatically and at no extra cost. This isn't a paid add-on, and it's not an opt-in toggle buried somewhere in a control panel. It's built into the network itself, covering shared hosting, VPS, dedicated servers, and everything else we operate out of our India data centers.

We rolled this out across HostMyCode VPS hosting India and every adjacent India service. Here's what actually changed, how it works under the hood, and why it matters if you're running anything serious on our network.

What Changed: L3/L4 DDoS Protection Is Now Always-On

HostMyCode has deployed enterprise-grade Layer 3 and Layer 4 DDoS protection across all its India infrastructure. That covers web hosting accounts, VPS instances, dedicated servers, and anything else we host in the region. No separate product to buy, no switch to flip, no ticket to file.

Protection kicks in at the network layer automatically. If your site or server lives on HostMyCode India infrastructure, it's already covered — that includes web hosting India customers and anyone running a dedicated server India deployment.

Why L3/L4 Attacks Are a Real Threat to Hosting Customers

Layer 3 and Layer 4 attacks go after the network and transport layers, not your application code. There's no bug in WordPress being exploited, no misconfigured API endpoint. The goal is simpler and dumber: bury your server's connection handling and bandwidth under junk traffic until nothing real gets through.

Common patterns include:

  • SYN floods — thousands of half-open TCP connections that exhaust your server's connection table.
  • UDP floods — high-volume UDP packets sent to random ports, forcing the target to respond or drop traffic at wire speed.
  • DNS/NTP amplification — attackers spoof your IP and send small requests to open DNS or NTP servers, which reply with disproportionately large responses aimed at you.

These attacks are volumetric by design. A single mid-sized amplification attack can saturate a server's uplink long before your application firewall or WordPress security plugin even notices. That's the gap edge-level network scrubbing is built to close — a different problem entirely from what tools like IPTables firewall configuration or Fail2Ban brute-force protection are meant to solve.

How Cloudflare Magic Transit Powers This Protection

Under the hood, this runs on Cloudflare Magic Transit. HostMyCode's India network prefixes are announced through Cloudflare's global anycast network, so traffic headed for our infrastructure hits Cloudflare's edge first.

Attack traffic gets identified and scrubbed right there at Cloudflare's edge, before it ever reaches HostMyCode's actual servers. Legitimate traffic passes through with barely any added latency and continues on to your VPS, dedicated server, or shared hosting account as usual.

In practice, that means a volumetric flood aimed at one of our IP ranges never lands on our network in any meaningful volume. It's absorbed and filtered upstream, across Cloudflare's globally distributed capacity, instead of fighting for bandwidth on a single India data center uplink.

Nothing to Configure on Your End

You don't need to touch DNS records, install an agent, or change a single setting in your control panel. This is a network-level control, not something bolted onto your account after the fact.

Whether you're running a WordPress site on shared hosting or managing a fleet of VPS instances, mitigation is already active. That said, your own hardening still matters. A VPS security audit or a look at your VPS log monitoring setup is still worth doing — for catching application-layer abuse, credential stuffing, or scraping, none of which L3/L4 protection is designed to stop.
